• Composer and Sound Designers,

It is still early days but it would be great to chat through our deliverable formats so we’re all on the same page. The final product will be in 5.1 but don’t fret if you don’t work in 5.1. I can mix and do some upscaling to get a great 5.1 music sound track. What I need is your score in stems. Break your tracks into stereo food groups. Does that make sense? Has everyone worked in this way?

    Possible stems:
    – Strings
    – Brass
    – Percussion Hi
    – Percussion Low (bass drums)
    – Piano
    – Synths Hi
    – Synths Low (low rumble stuff)
    – Vocals
    – Guitars

… And so on. It would also be helpful if you didn’t put too much reverb on things or at least printed them on separate stems. I’ll be adding 5.1 reverbs and panning things around but I will always keep the integrity of your sound. This will be all done in the guidance of the directors and producers.

For Sound Designers I’ll have a project template that I can pass on to you as a guide for the mix.

Anyway, thought I just get some conversation going on. Talk soon
